I think it’s great being able to chat and call for free! However, could you guys add a refresh button or something? A lot of times it takes FOREVER to receive messages when going into the app.
voice and video communication is good. and characters are so cute. very good.
I don’t know what happened recently as I usually don’t check when I update applications but not long ago, the video chat feature has been glitching out like CRAZY and it doesn’t even work anymore unless you wait maybe 3-5 minutes for the call to go through. Not only that, if you try to quit the application before the call goes through because WHO WANTS TO WAIT 3 MINUTES FOR A SIMPLE CALL TO GO THROUGH then the application stops responding. Kinda like your customer support. great job, Line.
When voice chatting with Line, the app auto mutes sounds from all other applications - makes it really frustrating when trying to watch a video with people on chat. I hope this gets fixed - at least put in an option to turn this feature off in the next upgrade. Until then I’m switching back to Skype when using my laptop.
This is the dumbest change I can imagine — limiting the status message to 20 characters.
I regreted to update line for a while as the the built-in voice input was removed! Give me back the voice input!
Hi, This version had high CPU usage on El Capitan Public Beta. Constantly 40-50%. Cause high cpu temp and fan spinning. Not suggest to install.
Conversation from other groups appears in ones of my groups. Please fix this. Also high CPU usage for chat application is ridiculous.
This new update has been completely unusable. It’s very laggy, and doesn’t send most of my messages. I like LINE, and use it on my phone all the time, and can’t wait until the Mac client catches up the smartphone application.
Everytime I try to send out a new message, the application freezes and then freezes my entire computer. I would not suggest downloading this application. Very frustrating and not at all useful.
I like Line, but I wish you could change the chat background. Also, autocorrect and keyboard shortcuts don’t work in Line like they do in the app.
updated but giving me the same “cannot use it because it needs to be updated etc etc etc”
I cannot delete individual chats, especially pictures once they are on there. This is a critical privacy feature. I need to be able to remove pictures from a chat. That failure makes the app unsable when I’m not in a private setting. Fix that, you get two more stars.
This app helped me survive (it was the only one that worked on my school MacBook) when my phone was in shop for a week so I can’t thank you guys enough!
OS X.9.5 Used to be able to use LINE on my MacBook Pro, but can no longer do so. On my mobile using the same account I get a message telling me the version I am using on the Mac is no longer supported and to upgrade to the latest. I did so and (4.1.2) still can’t log in.
Somehow you can still drag the window arround even when it’s supposed to be in “full screen mode”. Also it opens all the chats in new windows, which isn’t really optimal for full screen or split view. Other than that it works great. Had no issues logging in with the QR code.
..but the requirements to tie an accout to a phone number, even when using an email, is a real hassle for us world travelers. It often requires duplicate-account situations and lost contacts.
While spending three years in Japan Line was like my best friend. It kept me in touch with friends, coworkers, and businesses alike. The free messaging and calls made it easy to keep my phone bill steady and the high quality stickers offered a fun way to quickly remain a part of any conversation and convey a range of emotions beyond what basic texting pictograms. Even when I returned to the U.S. I was able to remain in touch with my friends around the world by using the PC version. It worked beautifully for months, even after I got a new phone I continued to use Line on my PC because it was so convenient and fun. It survived several upgrades and then magically this week I was logged out. No problem I thought it is attached to my e-mail address I can simply log back in. But no it want’s a verification code from my phone, a phone I no longer have access too. No problem I thought I’ll simply e-mail or call Line and get this straightened out. However, what I found is a company that clearly only cares about its customers when it is convenient for them. Why is there no adequate customer service!?! There is no way to contact Line with a specific problem by e-mail, phone, or chat. I tried Line’s pre-fab FAQ style "Help” section only to find answers so basic they almost don’t need to be put in a help section in the first place. Further investigation showed I’m not the only one. Line’s Facebook page has hundreds of posts and comments from frustrated users hoping someone, anyone will listen to them. When I talked to friends most said they eventually just gave up and created all new accounts. It seems pretty money-hungry to me, but the app frequently informs you that in switching to a new phone, changing e-mails, or using Line on any new device you will loose all previous chats, contacts, and purchases. I mean really did you think nothing would ever go wrong? ever? Do you think people never change phones or e-mails. I loved this app in Japan but is now one of my least favorite companies to deal with. To anyone looking into Line, its saturation into smartphone culture, particularly in Asia, makes it a convenient and attractive communication tool for individuals and groups. But BEWARE, cross-your fingers and toes that nothing ever goes wrong. If it does Line will happily cut your tether then charge you for a new one, as they skip forward to a new unsuspecting user.
i hate it because you cant make the application to place in split screen mode.. if you call, another window will open, it´s too annoying, im using my laptop and always using split screen orientation because i want to place a call on the otherside then use facebook while calling.. and you can´t do it in this application..
